Maugus Manufacturing, Inc. started in New England in the town of Needham, Massachusetts over 40 years ago. National Novelty Brush Company started a little farther west in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in over 50 years ago. Maugus started out making small metal-tubed brushes and metal-tubed brushes attached to metal caps. National Novelty started out making mousetraps, cookie cutters and small applicators attached to metal and plastic caps.
National Novelty evolved into having similar product lines as Maugus. In the early 60's, Mr. Girard E. Lamb, who owned Maugus Manufacturing, Inc., purchased National Novelty Brush Company.
Initially, both plants were kept running in their respective locales, but by 1968 it was decided to close the facilities in Needham and merge the two facilities into one. At this time it was also decided to maintain the corporate name of Maugus, but to keep National Novelty Brush as our company name.
Over the years we have continued to grow and develop new product lines. In 1998, we purchased the assets of Kerr Manufacturing, Inc.'s Compression Molded Products Division. This was a perfect fit as we were their largest customer of compression-molded closures, which we use in our "nail polish style" brush caps.
Today the common thread of all our products is that they are somehow used to apply a liquid solution: be it glue, paint, medicines, cosmetics, etc. We supply this "application technology" to many different companies. The automotive, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and dental industries all benefit from our products, just to name a few.
We currently employ over 100 people and with 60+ years of experience, we are able to supply our customers with the technology and know-how to apply their products.
